Welcome to Popsicles, Blake Theater’s inventive, high-energy showcase where musical theater meets the pop charts! In this collaborative project, students work in teams to reimagine a full-length musical—distilling the storyline into its key beats and matching each moment with contemporary pop songs that carry the same emotional weight or narrative purpose.
Each group selects a musical, analyzes its structure and themes, then builds a 15-minute retelling using curated pop hits and original choreography. The result? A bold, fast-paced remix that celebrates storytelling, musicality, and collaboration—served with a side of summer sweetness.
It’s part jukebox musical, part creative challenge, and all heart. This is Popsicles.
