Students

On stage and off, students are in the spotlight

The acting program at Blake gave me an opportunity to grow in a setting that was competitive and filled with kids who shared my passion for performance. Going to a school in such a great location made it possible for me to make the connections that got me the professional jobs I now have on my resume. The teachers at Blake know how to challenge and excite students so that they can reach their full potential. They take time out of their own lives to help us prepare not just for performances in high school but for the careers that follow. At Blake, I felt like each audition, each role, each lesson helped me train for life as an actor that is prepared, confident, and unafraid to explore their abilities within each role they are given.

Are You Ready?

Admittance into any of the Theater Department programs is by audition/interview/portfolio review only. Our program is highly competitive. Students wishing to become part of the program should begin preparing well in advance for our audition process. Your audition should show off your best work.

You will find information about specific programs and their audition requirements on the following pages:

Are you serious about acting, directing, musical theater, technical theater or costume design? Are you looking for the best training to reach your goals? Are you ready to focus on theatrical training because it’s your passion? Are you ready to be challenged? Can you live up to those challenges? If you answer yes to these questions, then you are the type of student we are looking for.

Students accepted into the program are expected to commit fully to their artistic and academic training. Classes in your major aren’t “just electives”, they are the very reason you are attending this highly specialized training program with state-of-the-art facilities and highly trained faculty with real-world professional experience in their fields. Students who do not live up to expectations either artistically or academically will be placed on probation and may be asked to return to their neighborhood school.

We think theater is fun, but it is also work. As the saying goes, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” If you think you have the right stuff to perform at the highest level, we look forward to meeting you.
